چکیده
India is one of the leading citrus−producing countries, next to China and Brazil. Despite sizeable production, especially lemons limes, contributes meagerly world’s citrus market. Of various factors responsible for restricted quantum export, canker (Xanthomonas citri pv. citri) serious causes directly impacts appearance fruits. Considering extent damage, present study aimed understand impact Xanthomonas (Xcc) on physio−biochemical responses in contrasting Citrus spp. Two genotypes, each three species, namely aurantifolia (Pusa Udit ALC−35), C. limon (Kagzi Kalan Konkan Seedless), paradisi (Redblush Marsh were artificially inoculated with Xcc (108 109 cfu/ mL) by pinprick method. The changes host evaluated after 48 h post inoculation (hpi). chlorophyll content (total, a, b) degradation reduction leaf gas exchange parameters, such as photosynthetic rate (A), transpiration (E), stomatal conductance (gs), intrinsic water−use efficiency (iWUE), measured a greater susceptible than resistant genotypes. microscopic observations also evidenced higher density larger areas favoring easier penetration tissues species or activities antioxidant enzymes, viz., superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), glutathione reductase (GR), contents soluble protein, phenolics genotypes contrast phenyl ammonia lyase (PAL) polyphenol oxidase (PPO) whilst levels ROS (superoxide radical hydrogen peroxide) production enhanced Based host–pathogen interaction, order resistance descending manner was found Kagzi Kalan, Seedless, Redblush, Pusa Udit, ALC−35. Further, results will enhance understanding pathogen mechanism during pathogenesis species.

Dynamic integration and excision of filamentous phage XacF1 in Xanthomonas citri pv. citri, the causative agent of citrus canker disease
Inovirus XacF1 (7325 nucleotides) is integrated into the genome of Xanthomonas citri pv. citri (Xcc) strains at the host dif site (attB) by the host XerC/D recombination system. The XacF1 attP sequence is located within the coding region of ORF12, a possible phage regulator. After integration, this open reading frame (ORF) is split into two pieces on the host genome. We examined dynamic integra...
متن کاملTransformation of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri by Electroporation
This study describes the use of electroporation for transforming Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac), the causal agent of citrus (Citrus spp.) canker. It also evaluates the methodology used for this species under different electrical parameters. The bacterium used in the study (Xac 306) was the same strain used for recent complete sequencing of the organism. The use of a plasmid (pUFR047, ge...

ABSTRACT Experimental inoculations of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri in different tissues of Tahiti lime and Pineapple sweet orange were conducted monthly under natural conditions on Réunion Island. The interactions between a set of environmental and epidemic variables associated with disease expression and 184 different factor combinations were investigated to determine the parameters needed...
متن کاملThe Effect of Citrus Essential Oils and Their Constituents on Growth of Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri.
Citrus bacterial canker (CBC) caused by Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc), is the most devastating of the citrus diseases worldwide. During our study, we found that Essential oils (EOs) of some citrus cultivars are effective on Xcc. Therefore, it prompted us to determine the plant metabolites responsible for the antibacterial properties. We obtained EOs from some locally cultivated citrus by...
